This course is designed to enhance and upgrade the learners’ tourism management-related knowledge, skills and aptitude by giving them the key inputs in the tourism-related areas through interactive lectures, case discussions workshops, role-plays and self-learning exercises. The course is delivered in a student-centered learning approach. The whole course is highly interactive, and it is expected to enrich the students’ knowledge in key tourism management areas; sharpen their managerial skills; and enhance their professional competence in today’s highly dynamic travel and tourism environment.


By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Develop understanding, knowledge and subject skills relating to the principles and practices of modern tourism management.
  • Develop subject interests by allowing access to a range of specialist modules in tourism management.
  • Gain a firm foundation, through the course’s structure in Year One, to the crucial areas of accountancy and finance, economics and an introduction to travel and tourism management.
  • Encourage intellectual curiosity that will contribute to the continuing professional development of an effective manager.
  • Produce graduates who are capable of operating in a multi-disciplined environment and in a variety of tourism sectors.
  • Interpret relevant information and sustain arguments in the field.

The travel and tourism specific modules in BA in Tourism Management course brings in specialist travel and tourism-related knowledge with the help of modules such as Introduction to travel and tourism management, tourism experience and behaviour, tourism operations management and managing global tourism issues which help the learners to gain the required knowledge, skills and techniques for effective management of the travel and tourism business in addition to management knowledge learned through management modules. During each semester students will be covering 2 modules. This means that in one year students will cover 4 modules of 15ECTS each. The dissertation carries 20 ECTS.

Students’ knowledge will be assessed through various assessment methods.

Study Material

All students will have access to EBSCO, the world’s largest online library, Moodle for class notes and Turnitin for the upload of assignments.

Entry to the course

Applicants will normally be expected to hold school-leaving qualifications. However, applications are also welcome from those with non-standard entry qualifications and relevant work experience. Students are advised to forward their CV to GCM for us to evaluate the candidates’ eligibility for the course.
